On the morning of July 10, the Tongji University 2020 “Moving Forward Together Plan” summer social practice training session was held at Dream Stage 201 of Venture Valley. Present at the training session were: LIU Run, Assistant to the President of Tongji University and Director of the Department of Academic Research of the Party Committee, the person from the University Youth League Committee responsible for the plan, representatives of grassroots civil service candidates and the 2019 “Moving Forward Together Plan,” as well as instructors of the plan from different regions and all students involved in it.

So far, the year 2020 is decisive for securing victory in building a moderately prosperous society in many respects, as well as being the concluding year of the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020). To encourage more Tongji students to devote themselves actively to the development of the western region of China and the grassroots exercise and to carry forward the fine tradition of “moving forward together with the motherland and benefiting the world with science and education,” the Youth League Committee of Tongji University organized its outstanding young students to perform month-long practical training in Party and government institutions and the grassroots frontlines of seven provinces and cities during July and August 2020. A total of 144 students were recruited to practice in various locations—Sichuan Province-22, Hunan Province-9, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region-10, Fujian Province-11, Taiyuan City of Shanxi Province-9, Chongqing City-19, and Shanghai City-64.

Impacted by the ongoing global pandemic, the session was held online and offline to help Tongji students enhance their working ability, raise their awareness of safety, discipline, service, and responsibility, thus demonstrating better the spirit of the Tongji people to the entire school and broader society.
