Tongji Signs Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Sinopec Group

The signing ceremony of the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between Tongji University and China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group) was held at Tongji University on May 3rd. MA Yongsheng, Vice President of Sinopec Group and member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, XIE Zaiku, Director of the Science and Technology Department of Sinopec Group and member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and GU Xianglin, Vice President of Tongji University, attended the ceremony.

GU and XIE signed the official agreement on behalf of both sides at the event. According to the agreement, Tongji University and Sinopec Group will give full play to their strengths in collaborative innovation and continue to cooperate in production, education, and research in the current context where China is working hard on the implementation of innovation-driven development strategy and striving to be an innovation-oriented country. The cooperation between the two sides will focus mainly on marine exploration, deep oil-gas detection, and new energy development. In addition, they will establish an operational system together based on shared lab resources and joint nurturing of talents.

China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group) is China’s largest petroleum and petrochemical supplier and the second largest oil and gas producer. At the same time, Sinopec Group is the world`s largest oil-refining enterprise and the second largest petrochemical corporation, owning the second highest number of gas stations worldwide. The Group also ranked fourth among the Fortune 500 Companies in 2016.
