Prof. WU Zhiqiang Elected as New Member of CAE

Prof. WU Zhiqiang from Tongji University was elected as a new member of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), according to the Name List of Newly Elected Members of CAE in 2017 officially released on November 27th.
WU Zhiqiang, born in Shanghai in 1960, is an expert entitled to Government Special Allowance (GSA), a member of National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech) in Germany, a member of Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA), Chief Planner for the World Expo Shanghai 2010 site, and Chief Planner for Urban Comprehensive Planning of Beijing Subsidiary Administrative Center. WU was also among the first few experts in the field of planning to receive the title of National Engineering Survey and Design Master in 2016.

WU, devoted to advancing the rational ascension of urban planning, has been a practitioner in urban planning and engineering for a long time. Until now, he has presided over four major national research projects, one National High-tech R&D Program (863 Programs), and twelve major provincial research projects. He has also participated in several major urban planning programs, such as urban planning for the World Expo Shanghai 2010 site, the Baltic Pearl New Town in St. Petersburg, Russia, and the reconstruction of Dujiangyan, Sichuan following its earthquake on May 12, 2008. Moreover, WU has authored more than 20 books (including Fundamentals of City Planning (Fourth Edition), Sustainable Planning and Design for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, Evaluation System for the Sustainable Development of China 's Human Habitation Environment), published more than 200 articles in academic journals at home and abroad, and translated numerous foreign classics in urban planning.
