On November 17th, the 6th Tongji University Cultural Exhibition of Ethnic Customs was held in the stadium of the Siping Campus, Tongji University. More than 100 students of the Mongol, Hui, Uighur, Miao, Yi, Zhuang, Buyi, Manchu, Dong, Yao, Bai, Tujia, Kazak, Dai, Daur and Shezu minority groups presented a fabulous event rich in singing and dancing.
The exhibition saw students of each minority group working their magic full of delight. Uygur and Kazakh students presented food with their ethnic characteristics, such as Nang (staple food of the Uygur and Kazak minorities), dried fruits, and Xinjiang rice to the teachers and students. Tibetan students then made a special Tibetan drink - sweet tea. They also wrote names for Han students in Tibetan writing, helped other students to try on Tibetan clothing, and wove Tibetan plaits for them. Students of different ethnic groups from all over the country showed their ethnic costumes, illustrated the geographical features of their hometown, and answered questions raised by teachers and students in front of their corresponding exhibition posters.
Every year, Tongji University will organize such activities for students of ethnic groups, which will further promote the development of the minority cultures on campus, enhance the communication among students, and strengthen their unity and mutual assistance.
